SSC GD Constable Eligibility 2026

Who can apply for SSC GD Constable in 2026 — the age limit, educational qualification, nationality and attempt rules as specified by Staff Selection Commission (SSC). Always confirm against the official notification before applying.

General eligibility

Age: 18-23 years. Age relaxation: SC/ST +5 yrs, OBC +3 yrs, ex-servicemen and other categories as per rules.
Education: Matriculation (10th) pass or equivalent from a recognised board.
Nationality: Indian citizen only. Subjects of Nepal and Bhutan are not eligible for GD Constable posts.

Physical standards (PST) — Male

Age: Same as above.
Education: Same as above.
Nationality: Same as above.
Attempts: Height: 170 cm (general); 165 cm for Scheduled Tribes; 162.5 cm for hill area candidates. Chest: 80 cm unexpanded, with minimum 5 cm expansion.

Physical standards (PST) — Female

Age: Same as above.
Education: Same as above.
Nationality: Same as above.
Attempts: Height: 157 cm (general); 155 cm for Scheduled Tribes; 150 cm for hill area candidates. No chest measurement.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

Age: Same as above.
Education: Same as above.
Nationality: Same as above.
Attempts: Male: 5 km in 24 minutes. Female: 1.6 km in 8 min 30 sec. Conducted after qualifying CBE. Failing PET disqualifies the candidate.
