How to Prepare for SSC GD Constable 2026

A focused, no-nonsense way to prepare for SSC GD Constable in 2026 — 5 key principles plus the reference books aspirants rely on. Then put it into practice with a free SSC GD Constable mock.

  1. 1

Start physical training in PARALLEL with study from Day 1 — many strong CBE scorers get eliminated at PET. Build cardio capacity for the 5 km run (males) / 1.6 km (females) at least 8-12 weeks before the test date.

  2. 2

For the CBE, NCERT Class 8-10 Math textbook covers everything in Elementary Mathematics. Solve every worked example and chapter exercise. Don't go above Class 10 level — GD doesn't test advanced shortcuts.

  3. 3

Reasoning rewards practice. 15-20 questions a day from each subtopic (series, coding, blood relations, classification) for 60 days makes a serious difference. Lucent Reasoning or any basic SSC Reasoning book works.

  4. 4

GK and current affairs need consistency. Focus on Indian-context questions (CAPFs structure, ranks, recent operations, freedom struggle, sports). Read a daily summary like Adda247 free current affairs PDFs or Career Power monthly bulletin.

  5. 5

For language, choose between English and Hindi based on your comfort. Most North Indian candidates pick Hindi — practice basic grammar, common muhavare and short reading passages. South Indian candidates often pick English — focus on simple grammar, basic vocabulary.

Strategy is set — now do the reps.
