- 18-27 years (3 years older than MTS upper limit of 25). Age relaxation: SC/ST +5 yrs, OBC +3 yrs, PwD +10 yrs, ex-servicemen as per rules.

- Matriculation (Class 10) pass or equivalent from a recognised board. Same as MTS.
- Nationality
- Indian citizen, or subject of Nepal/Bhutan, or Tibetan refugee, or person of Indian origin from specified countries.
