NEET Eligibility 2026
Who can apply for NEET in 2026 — the age limit, educational qualification, nationality and attempt rules as specified by National Testing Agency (NTA). Always confirm against the official notification before applying.
General eligibility
- Age
- Minimum 17 years as on 31 December of the year of admission. There is no upper age limit (the earlier upper-age cap has been removed).
- Education
- Passed (or appearing in) Class 12 / equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology, plus English as a core subject, from a recognised board.
- Nationality
- Indian Nationals, NRIs, OCIs, PIOs and Foreign Nationals are eligible to appear (seat-allotment and quota rules differ by category and are decided at counselling).
- Attempts
- No limit on the number of attempts.
Qualifying marks in PCB (Class 12)
- Age
- Same as above. Candidates appearing in Class 12 can apply provisionally.
- Education
- Minimum aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Biology together: General 50%, OBC / SC / ST 40%, PwD (General) 45%. The same percentile-based qualifying cut-off applies to the NEET score itself for counselling.
- Nationality
- Candidates must also clear the NEET qualifying percentile (e.g. 50th percentile for General, 40th for reserved categories) to be eligible for counselling.
