Exam leak & re-exam rumours in 2026: how to tell real from fake
From NEET re-exam claims to UPSC and SSC 'leak' rumours, 2026 has been noisy. Here's a 60-second way to verify any exam news and avoid scams.

2026 has been a noisy year for exam news. NEET-UG 2026 was cancelled and ordered to be re-conducted โ the re-test is scheduled for 21 June 2026 after the Supreme Court declined to stay it, per court reporting; viral claims of a UPSC Prelims 'leak' were declared fake by PIB Fact Check; and the NTA flagged a 'NEET re-exam paper on Telegram' claim as fake and referred it to cyber-crime. Amid all this, the hardest skill for an aspirant is telling a real update from a rumour.
A 60-second check works for almost any claim. First, go to the conducting body's own site โ ssc.gov.in, upsc.gov.in, the RRB sites, ibps.in or nta.ac.in โ because real notifications, results and cancellations always appear there first. Second, for a viral 'leak' or WhatsApp forward, search pib.gov.in/factcheck, where the government routinely debunks fake exam claims. Third, distrust anything that asks for money or personal details or that lives only on a Telegram channel โ that is the signature of a scam, not a leak.
Real exam-integrity problems do happen, and when they do the conducting body and mainstream press report them openly. But the vast majority of 'leak' posts are old papers, mock tests or doctored screenshots designed to sell you something or rattle you before an exam. Using or circulating leaked material is now an offence under the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024. The honest move is also the smart one: verify on the official source, ignore the rest, and put the saved energy into practice. Always confirm dates and eligibility on the official site before you act.
Don't just read the news โ get ready for the exam.
