Preliminary Examination (Phase I — qualifying / केवल screening)

Prelims is purely a SCREENING test. There is NO sectional cut-off in Prelims — only an overall category cut-off; Mains shortlisting is on aggregate Prelims marks (per CRPD/PO/2026-27/09). Approximately 10x the notified vacancy is shortlisted for Mains. Prelims marks are NOT carried forward into the final merit list — this is a critical structural difference from many other recruitment exams.
Main Examination (Phase II — मेरिट-तय करने वाला objective + descriptive)

Mains में हर objective सेक्शन और descriptive English पर सेक्शनल कटऑफ़ लागू होते हैं। Mains कटऑफ़ पार करने वाले अभ्यर्थी Phase III के लिए शॉर्टलिस्ट होते हैं (आमतौर पर ~3x रिक्ति)। Mains सबसे कठिन चरण है — ख़ास तौर पर Data Analysis & Interpretation अकेला सबसे बड़ा score-swing सेक्शन है।
Phase III — Psychometric Test, Group Exercise (GE) and Personal Interview (PI)

अंतिम मेरिट सूची = Mains (250 अंक 75 पर scaled) + GE+PI (50 अंक 25 पर scaled), कुल 100। Prelims अंतिम स्कोर में योगदान नहीं करता। जो अभ्यर्थी GE या PI छोड़ते हैं वे अयोग्य हो जाते हैं। SBI द्वारा Prelims से पहले निर्धारित centres पर SC/ST/OBC/Religious Minority अभ्यर्थियों को Pre-Examination Training (PET) मुफ़्त में दी जाती है।
