IBPS PO: how the CRP cycle and notification work

IBPS conducts the Probationary Officer Common Recruitment Process (CRP-PO) once each year on behalf of the participating public sector banks. The official notification appears on ibps.in and lists the participating banks, the tentative vacancy count, the eligibility (a graduate degree and the age band), and the Prelims, Mains and interview dates.
The three stages
The structure is three stages: a Preliminary exam (Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, English โ qualifying), the Mains (a tougher paper plus a descriptive English test that decides merit), and a final interview. Provisional allotment to a bank then follows on the combined Mains-plus-interview score.
The notification is a starting gun for the application, not your studies
The application window is short and the Prelims follows within weeks of registration closing, so there is rarely time to start preparation after the notification โ the candidates who clear are the ones already practising.
IBPS PO Prelims is about speed plus accuracy: roughly a minute per question across Reasoning, Quant and English, with sectional time limits. The best preparation is timed mocks plus honest review of mistakes. See the IBPS PO syllabus, check what the role pays on the IBPS PO salary page, and take a free, timed IBPS PO mock test to see exactly where you stand before the window opens.
